of the Holmesdale Building Society in 2004. The Society was formed in 1855. Its first office was in Church Street, Reigate, where it remains to this day as an independent mutual building society. |

Additional Information | Ian West is a surveyor who has
specialised for over thirty years in the restoration
of historic buildings. Although the Romans had brickworks in Surrey, the manufacture of bricks in the county then lapsed and was not revived until mediaeval times. Ian's talk will cover the production of bricks and their use in building design up to the abolition of the brick tax in 1841. |
